* Happy Holidays, indeed.

I am returning to the blogosphere after the giant wave of holiday cheer and a fabulous vacation in Mexico. This holiday, I was given two small gorgeous felted purses handmade by my sister and immediately became smitten with this new craft. I used one to carry jewelry over my vacation and each time I opened it I was reminded of how eager I was to learn this new art. Fortunately for me, my most generous sister gave me instructions on the basics of felting and set me loose with her supplies. I knew I was going to go to town as soon as I sat down with everything so I obtained more material and my own set of tools from The Weaving Works. Sure enough, felting is how I spent almost my entire weekend and is currently all I can think about at work. From the time I received the two felted purses I knew that I was going to pick it up fast. I had an amazing sense about this new material which must have been triggered from her unique and beautiful creations. Before the purses, most felted items I saw were in country craft stores and fairs, and I paid them no mind. A new world has been opened to me.
I have been lamenting to myself about not having a proper space, and more importantly the tools, for papermaking. Felting has provided a cheap(er) path for me to hand work fibers to my desire.
Felting has put a temporary lull on my paper endeavors. But I haven’t forgot about the large stack of paper I still have, its time will come. For now, I am really excited about wool and discovering what inspiration lies within me for it.
