Soft sculpture is becoming a really engaging project for me. I am returning to the powerful joy I felt during my clay and drawing work in college. Its moving me back into the process of creating art versus craftiness. Not that there is anything wrong with being crafty, there is definitely a fair amount craftiness in art. And vice versa. With these sculptural projects I’m adding layers, detail and gesture as I would in my drawings. And with the roving being what it is I am building from a raw material into something more recognizable.
Last month, I was commissioned to create a mouse!
