* bottled (felt) kombucha
Posted on February 17th, 2010 by admin. Filed under Art, Photography.
Another work in progress.
I should have researched a better way to remove labels from glass bottles before I started this part of the project. It was an obnoxious 45 minutes, razor in hand, stripping paper and glue with soap and water. The next step is to start ‘filling’ the bottles with my idea of ‘felted kombucha’. You see, I’ve begun drinking a bottle of kombucha on a (most)daily basis and really enjoying it. My sister turned me onto it after much convincing that it was not, in fact, a mushroom. And now I’ve turned Henry onto it.
I started thinking about making some faux-bucha and realized I had vessels already sitting in the recycling bin. Here they are so far.

While at Valentine’s Evening Dinner with my Sister’s family I took some pictures of my nephew jumping on his bed and playing with cars. Someday I’m going to get him to make another great fort with me.

*I’ve had a very productive week
What’s on my plate for next week? Well, I’d really like to pack up all our essential things (plus cats) and move to Iceland and start a sheep farm. But if that doesn’t happen… there is something to behold within this jar. To start.

Have a great weekend!

The Heart is finished. I was playing around with the camera this afternoon trying to work on ideas I’d had for such a shoot. I’ve been waiting for some technical assistance since I am somewhat dunce-like when it comes to taking the pictures I want. The ideas are there though. Well, then there are happy accidents like this one where soft sculpture transcends into a photo.
The soft sculpture will be up on Etsy tomorrow.
Happy Valentines (weekend) day!

(fish)
Once again my dear friend Elizabeth has proved herself as an evil genius… a mad hatter if you will. I received this Jelly Fish hat after some long anticipation somehow I sensed what I was getting, what I didn’t anticipate was its beauty. I got so excited I covered myself in iridescent glitter put on the hat and took some pictures.
Couldn’t wait to show it off.

Its been an amazing experience each time I’ve hosted a booth at the Fremont Sunday Market. I get the most fun out of talking with market goers, other vendors and most of all people watching. So many great faces and fashion in Seattle. Sometimes I’ll have a camera out, and sometimes Henry Here’s one from two weeks ago, a young patron trying on ALL of the bangles. So great!

Girl in the Market, 2009, Henry Rose
After last weeks disaster, the disaster being that I woke up well past 8:00 and missed an opportunity to get a booth in Fremont, I have been determined to make this Sunday’s booth the best yet. So, come on by!

Sometimes ordinary events are made meaningful by something momentous. Such a thing happened one night in September when Henry and I were out taking pictures in the darkness. My niece was born. Before the call came, the night was so far just so. I was wearing this orange mod dress, and Henry was sporting his new blue patterned button-down, and we had our cameras. Then the news came that a fiesty crying baby was the newest member of our family. And our experiments in photography turned out to represent a sort of welcome dance for this beautiful new baby, Sula.

On an Island in the middle of Breidafjordur bay in Iceland, which felt like the middle of nowhere, I was filled with inspiration to take advantage of the amazing light at midnight. We watched the sun set but then the dark night didn’t follow so it was time to take some photos.
